Although Jasper Highet isn't taking part in any Fashion Revolution Week events, I do think it's a company that needs to be known!
I've had one of their belts for over a year now and wear it every time I wear a pair of jeans... which is pretty much every day! However, to begin to understand the unique qualities of this belt, I better start at the beginning.
The leather is from J&FJ Baker & Co in Colyton, Devon. It's the last oak bark tannery left in Britain, having been founded over 150 years ago.
The unique process to create the leather takes 14 months. Each hide is treated with only natural products, in a sustainable way. The hide is hand selected (as a by-product to the meat industry) from the local slaughterhouses, before beginning the long process to transform it to useable leather.
They produce the highest quality, most durable leather on the market and regularly sell to many luxury brands worldwide.
From there, Jasper Highet individually chooses each piece of leather he wants to work with. Having over 30 years working in the saddlery trade, he knows what's good!
Each belt is entirely handmade, and to the preference of the buyer. You can choose the colour, length, what type of buckle and the list goes on.
The end product is a thing of beauty and one that is made and designed to last a lifetime.
