To cheer me up on this gloomy, wet day in London, I thought I'd put together my top 10 wardrobe wants for spring & summer. #10We all know that spring and summer in England is never quite as good as we hope. So for those chillier days, I love this jumper from Gung Ho. Made in London, with 100% organic cotton. They also donate £5 from each purchase to Friends of the Earth. Price: £95 Website: http://www.gung-ho-design.com/shop/embroidered-bee-sweatshirt #9I can't get enough of these Proud Mary sandals! I will be placing my order very soon! Proud Mary are based in the US but ship to the UK for $13.30. The sandals are handmade in Morocco, and take a total of 10 hours to make. The brand releases an annual impact report, which is a fantastic way to find out the impact of the products they produce and how you're helping by buying from them. Price: $162 (about £118 at the current exchange rate) Website: https://proudmary.org/collections/shoes/products/fringe-slide-sandal-natural #8I love this blouse from Susy Harper. I can see myself wearing it with skinny white jeans and the sandals above! Susy Harper's clothes are all designed and made in London, with ethically sourced fabrics. Price: £235 Website: http://www.susyharper.co.uk/shop/4580170263/ukiyo-blouse-ls/11293492 #7There is something about a casual linen dress for summer that I just must have. This one, from Bug Clothing, is no different. Handmade in London, they will make it to your exact sizing if wanted. The materials are all "deadstock" designer factory waste - so really one for the eco-minded. Price: £140 Website: http://www.bugclothing.co.uk/shop/lincoln-dress-1 #6Generally, I'm a t-shirt and jeans type of girl - so when I see ethically made tees that also help the local community, I'm in! This tee from Birdsong is simple but with a great story. Made from 100% organic combed cotton, these tees are made by Mona and her friends at Bow Sewing Centre in Poplar, London. The money raised goes towards sewing lessons for women from low income backgrounds and people with disabilities. Price: £28 (currently for pre-order only) Website:https://birdsong.london/shop/new-in/pre-order-no-borders-embroidered-organic-cotton-tee/ #5Like I said above, I wear jeans a lot! I've been searching for an affordable brand that sells ethical jeans, and have recently come across Monkee Genes. Although not strictly for summer, jeans are an item in my wardrobe I wear year-round. Monkee Genes' mantra is "no slave labour, no child labour, no blood, no sweat, no tears", which really reassures me that they really are looking into their entire supply chain. These jeans are made from 98% organic cotton and 2% elastane. Price: £60 Website:https://monkeegenes.com/collections/womens-slim/products/womens-dark-organic-denim-slim-fit-emily-jean?variant=4485096538153 #4I absolutely adore this mini straw bag by Made By Wave! Handcrafted using straw from the gibang palm tree, which is indigenous to East Asia. Price: £150 Website: https://www.madebywave.com/product-page/daisy-bag-mini #3This bracelet from Sidai Designs would look beautiful throughout the year - with a summer dress or a chunky knit jumper. A beaded bracelet with a block of 24K gold plated glass beads and finished with a 14K gold fill closure. Made in Tanzania, by Maasai women, using traditional techniques. The brand tries to use as much recycled materials as possible to really reduce the volume of waste created. Price: £43 Website:https://shop-sidaidesigns.com/products/triple-zebra-wrap-endito-bracelet-grey-white-gold #2People Tree are now a well known brand, and design some great pieces. This dress is one of my favourites from their SS18 season. Made from organic cotton with a broderie anglaise design; its a great dress to wear casually with some sandals or could easily be dressed up with some jewellery and heels. Price: £119 Website: http://www.peopletree.co.uk/women/dresses/nidia-broderie-shirt-dress #1This item by Henri has been in my 'basket' for the last week.. I'm just holding off purchasing because... Oh I'm not sure why! Made in London with organic cotton, it's the perfect summer garment. It can be worn on its own as a shirt or as a jacket.
Henri, is a really exciting brand who are soon to be opening a shop in hackney, London. Price: £130 Website: https://henri.london/collections/ss18/products/cream-over-shirt I hope you've enjoyed my SS18 wish list. I've tried to incorporate smaller brands, as well as the larger ones too, but all being ethically minded. N.B: I'm not associated with any of the brands above. Jemma
